For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows grace and favor and glory - honor, splendor and heavenly bliss! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Remember how this is all just an experiment...

I made Ranch Chicken last night. And really, how could it go wrong? It involved ranch, and chicken, win WIN!

Well, apparently it could go wrong. It could go very very wrong. I'll spare you pictures of the catastrophe. They wouldn't be pretty. Let's just say, you really DO want to follow the directions and use that dusty bread crumb stuff in a can, you know, those Italian ones. I never keep that stuff in my house because I think it's flavorless and... dusty. But I guess there really is a purpose for it, and this recipe probably would be one of those purposes.

I tried to make homemade bread crumbs with a couple slices of bread and my food processor. Not a good idea. Don't try it. It was too moist and wouldn't coat the chicken properly. So I just sort of smushed some on top and threw it in the oven. Because the chicken wasn't covered it turned out very dry, and didn't gain any flavor from the ranch which was mixed in with the bread crumbs.

So lesson learned I guess. Me and the girls ate hot dogs instead and later on I ran out to Wendy's for me and Hubs. So I didn't succeed in steering us away from take out for once this week.

That's too bad! But I'm sure it will be delicious next time.

It sucks when it goes all wrong! Maybe try Panko bread crumbs instead of those dusty ones. Or really seasoned ones which tend to be larger and not overly dusty. I use French dressing and the bread crumbs. It's the kids favorite. And super fast to make. :)

Oh no! But honestly - your kids would eat something other than their five favorites? I'm impressed. My kids eat nothing but different versions of cheese melted on bread.

Amy, it happens to all of us at one time or another. Thank heavens for Wendy's (or McD's, or Jack in the Box, or Sonics). There's always someone around willing to feed us when we goof!

PS-Leave your bread end crusts out to dry, or dry them in a warm oven, then put them in your blender for DRY bread crumbs!
