I realize it's Monday, and some of you are eagerly looking forward to today's Mystery Spice recipe... Well sorry to disappoint you again! I simply have too many recipes and pictures to share with you after not blogging so much for the past 2 weeks. A blog idea backlog of sorts. But I think after what you see below you'll be glad I decided to share this with you instead.
My Cake Pop Experience!
Yup, I spent a day and a half makin' these bad boys. I searched high and low for parts and pieces, I never did find an edible ink marker... but I made do with black frosting and a homemade piping bag.
As you can see, I'm no Bakerella. And I don't think Charm City Cakes will be knocking at my door begging me to work for them any time soon.
But my family was impressed and that's all that really matters. While I was making them I had visions of people saying, "Where did you get these!! They're soooo cute!"
And then I would say, "I made them myself."
"Oh my gosh, you made them?!"
"Yup, it was all me. I pretty much rock."
As you can see I have quite the ego in my imagination.
In reality I reminded myself that Easter is seriously not all about me and my silly little cake pops shaped like chickens.
It's about Jesus.
I had an awesome praise session with Him on my way to my mom's house yesterday, and I think that pretty much took me down off my high horse.
So when people yesterday proclaimed the awesomeness of my cake pops I thanked them, I explained the process of making them, I told them how long it took and where I found yellow chocolate (Michael's, in case you're wondering too). But I remained cool and collected about them. Because seriously, cake pops are not rocket science. They just take time and a little effort. Anyone could do it.
If you'd like to give it a try click the Bakerella link above. She is the cake pop QUEEN and makes them in all sorts of designs for various occasions. I love her. She's so creative, and her photos are fantastic. She's everything I'm not. And thank God there's people like her in this world.
If she didn't exist, I wouldn't have thought I'd be able to make something like this.
In the absence of a black edible ink marker I tried out some blue eyed chicks... but they just looked psycho... not exactly the look I was going for!
And these guys down below...
I imagine a conversation went on between them.
"Oy! You punched me lights out!"
"Arrrrrh... that's right, I'm one tough chickie and don't you forget it!"
And as you can see I had quite a number of cracked rejects. Which we didn't mind because the best thing about these pops is they're cute and tasty.
Sometimes I felt like I was being watched... hmmm... I wonder why?
Overall I'd say they were worth the time and effort it took to make them. Everyone seemed to enjoy them yesterday, in fact my dad and brother nearly came to blows over who got to take the most home. I had to step in, otherwise there wouldn't have been any to take home for myself. Yup, nothing builds family unity like cake pops!

You did a great job! Bakerella has nothing on you.
At first I said to myself, "Oh, lookie! Amy made little yellow bald headed boy cake pops!" But that was at first glance...they really do look like baby chicks! I had just been visited by a little bald headed boy great-grandchild, so you know what was on my mind ;-)
I ran out of Lavender Honey Bunches last week, and I'm CRAVING them! They are awesome and addictive. I really need to grow some lavender this year.
I hope you had a blessed Easter.
I LOVE those! You did a great job.
These are soooooo cute. I love them.
Wow, those are fabulous!!!
Those are adorable. I love them too! My sister posted scriptures all over her house this Easter. It was very inspiring. Wonderful to celebrate Resurrection Day!
Rosie

They turned out super cute! I've looked and looked at all bakerella's many little pop's and thought, hmmmm, I just don't know if it's worth the effort.... I would just eat them all with my husband! -e
